We survived our first tropical storm! The only fun part of the weekend was going out to the beach to look at the waves. It was so windy that by today we had to wear sunglasses so the blowing sand didn't get in our eyes! The rain on Saturday actually hurt when it hit our faces. We've had more thunderstorms move through in 3 days than I could ever had imagined! Those that have lived here a lifetime are right in that these storms take FOREVER to move through!! I think we're all getting a little cabin fever!!
I am so thankful that we did not lose power, water or have any major issues from this storm. We are dog & fish sitting for some friends and an evacuation would have meant taking all the animals w/ us (and don't forget, we have a bunny!). Overall, the damage in our area here in the peninsula is minimal (we've seen some limbs down and some signs torn apart). We are blessed to have missed the major part of the storm. WHEW!! Prayers go out to those who were badly affected by Lee and those still recovering from Hurricane Irene!
