Our baby birds

This is the second blessed event in a nest on our front porch. We've had four birds each time. The bird in the grass is one of the first ones to fly away. Jordan & Lance got to watch the first two learn to fly and leave the nest. Lance had to help one of the babies off of our porch...it flew into a screen. (Don't worry...it is okay.) Jordan got some great shots of the babies in the grass!! It was neat to have a Science lesson on the front porch!!

Glorious Strawberries!

We went strawberry picking last week!! Yummy! Our freezer was empty...no jam of any kind. SO...off to the patch! Total we picked 27 1/2 pounds of strawberries and made 8 batches of jam! Our first pint jar is already half way eaten. For some reason that first jar always tastes so good!

Waiting for our baby...

We have mailed the profile books and they should get to their destination by tomorrow or Tuesday. Lance e-mailed the director to ask the dreaded question...how long does a birthmom have to change her mind. Well, in our state of choice...she can't. Once she signs the surrender papers, she can't come back and take the baby away from us. WHEW!!!

So now we wait. A common phrase among adoptive families in waiting...we are PREGNANT ON PAPER!! No morning sickness at all, just some mild anticipation!!!

We watched a little guy this weekend for some friends of ours. Samuel is 2 1/2 and was a complete blast!! I am really excited about expanding our family! It was neat to wake up to him each morning and hear his little footsteps around the house. I enjoyed watching Lance take care of him and show him how to BBQ. I enjoyed hearing Samuel call for Jordan and yell when she wanted to play with his tractors. (Only Lance was able to play tractors or cars with Samuel.) It was great fun and makes me that much more excited.

So now we wait...

Finally finished...

Our profile has been tweaked and read over and proofed....we are finally finished. I just put it on a flash drive and will be taking it to the printers today. I'm planning to have him print one copy and then we'll look at it before mass producing it. Lance found a box to mail them in, so once they are finished, we are good to go....hopefully by the end of the week.

I feel really nervous about sending this to the printers and seeing the final product. I want it to look good and for birth mothers to like it. This is the big determining factor in regards to us getting a baby.

We continue to pray for our baby and his/her birth parents.

The loss of a good man...

I was so saddened to hear of the loss of our African missionary, Ole, who was killed in a car accident in Africa. He has been connected with our home church for several years through two of our members. We have learned a lot from Ole...mostly how to have deep faith in God even when basic necessities in life aren't provided. Ole's tribe in Kenya, the Maasai, has been without water for decades. The women walk to get water and the trip takes an entire day. We prayed for a well to be dug and the Maasai to have water. I remember Ole saying to us in church, "I know God will give us water because HHUMC is praying for us". Ole was a great man, deeply rooted in the Christian faith. He leaves behind a wife and 5 children. Our hearts ache for those who love and remember this amazing person!

They're back!!

Lance & Jordan are back from their trip to MO. They apparently had a great time. I am so glad they are back safe and sound! This is the picture we are using for our profile book...which I have completed!! WOO HOO! Lance is going to proof it and then off to the presses! Elizabeth and Duane have decided to print the books at their house on their monster color printer. God bless them for this!! Our home study is almost complete...after a few shots and tears (Jordan) from our physicals. :) We are almost ready to be presented to birth moms. WOW! I pray for our birth mom...whoever she is...that she has the strength to go forth with her decision. And for our baby...for health and safety.

Too quiet!!

Lance & Jordan are on their way to MO to celebrate my mother in law's retirement. They'll be gone until Saturday night. SO...I am here...and it is quiet. Don't get me wrong...it is okay. I'm catching up on some paperwork and then my goal is to get our profile done!!

Thanks to my friend, Jennifer, I have scrapbooking software and can do the whole profile on the computer!! This will save me time and $ in printing picture costs. Not to mention the profile will look really nice! Jordan helped me start her page before she left...very girly...very pink!

Well...I should get back to work.
