Time

I helped my "baby" get ready for band pictures today. I watched my little girl transform into a high school band member before my eyes. This whole transition into high school has me feeling a little anxious, a lot excited and sad. I am so proud of who Jordan is becoming, but I know that she is growing up....way too fast for my comfort.

The reality of having a single child is that our firsts are also our lasts. This is the first and last time my child will enter high school. I want to take each moment with her and bottle it up and save it. I wish I could sometimes just stop the clock and hold onto those moments. Like this morning when she turned to look at me in that uniform and smiled that beautiful smile.

I'm trying to find that balance between relishing each moment and mourning the fact that in four short years she is leaving to go to college. So, I will be at every football game, standing up for my little girl as she takes the field to march. I'll be "that mom" that cries the first time they get into formation, so proud of the hard work they have done. Yup....I'm that sappy mom that wants to stop the clock and hold on to each moment I have left. My mom told me the best thing you can give your child is "roots to grow and wings to fly". Sounds easier than it is!
